Becoming a Sensei

Have been teaching martial arts for over 20 years and is the owner of the Precision Martial Arts Academy(pmaa), which is a full time training facility in Coburg 6 days per week, teaching Koryu Uchinadi Kenpo Jutsu, 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu, MMA and Yamaneryu Kobudo (weapons)

Our main focus is having a balance of physical expertise in the reality based self defence arena; along with an even greater understanding of the corresponding, academic pursuits, these include the Habitual acts of physical violence (HAPV) theory made famous by my teacher, Hanshi Patrick McCarthy, two person drills concept specific to Koryu Uchinadi, understanding defensive themes within the kata (application based training principles), having a functional understanding of anatomy and physiology along with the applied sciences (biomachanics).

Hanshi McCarthy has gone to great lengths to provide all of us, regardless of style or group, with a brilliant, yet simple, systematized methodology of delivering the vital information, through two person drills, leaving no stone unturned as far as functional, practical and spontaneous, self protection is concerned. Mandatory, to cope with the unpredictability of violent circumstances. Common people trapped in uncommon circumstances.

On a personal note

The pursuit for knowledge that is useful.

The challenge of learning. Building the best fighting machine possible through practical and functional, martial arts tactical strategies. To train for function rather than fashion. Surrounding yourself with the best people you can locate and afford to learn from. Be the chaser of your own dreams, rather than someone else’s… is the way of life I have chosen to lead.
